Keeping Furnace Vents Clear of Snow

Keeping snow build-up around your high efficiency furnace exhaust and fresh-air intake pipes is critical to maintaining a safe and properly operating heating system. These pipes are normally found sticking out from the side of your home, and depending on their exact location may become blocked by snow, vegetation, or debris. If your exhaust vent pipe or fresh air intake pipe do not function properly, sensors in the furnace can shut the entire unit down.

If snow builds up around these pipes, ensure you shovel and remove it regularly. Regular inspection of snow levels and persistant removal will be the key to preventing a blockage.
